Darkroom Faith

I imagine the pitch for this at some point included a phrase like, this will be the new Alpha for Gen Z”. Which I’m ok with; I’ve gone through an Alpha course, and I would be curious to use this as a curriculum.

I just wanted to share some good work; every part of this is top notch and conveys a unique point of view clearly.

My first podcast appearance

Cut to Reveal - Ep. 19

Not really newsworthy, but I’m a fan of Piotr and his work, so I wanted to share. They have a great tool that lets you record audio in a browser which they use to take questions for their podcast.

I’ve been struggling to use string outs to their full potential and have been thinking a bin of subclips might have some use instead, but given their feedback, I think I’m going to get more refined in making my string outs and either add more markers or more specific string outs in the future.

Computer Vision

This is the best visual explanation I’ve seen of how a computer thinks….and it’s an actual working AI, not a concept.

(Also trying out Youtube’s Clips feature, so click through to watch the whole video.)

Now Archive | March 21, 2022

I love the idea of a Now page;

a page that tells you what this person is focused on at this point in their life. Think of what you’d tell a friend you hadn’t seen in a year.

I just updated my Now page and it occurred to me that while I’m taking the time to write these, this could serve as a long-term journal of what I’m doing and interested in over time. So, here’s my first entry in my Now Archives.

Updated Sat, Sep 4, 2021 from Chicago, IL

Personal

Currently top of mind is the upcoming birth of my first child. So I expect that to be all encompassing the next…few decades.

Work

Other than that, I’m still in Chicago, working remotely full time (not pandemic related, just because the office is out of state) as a video editor for corporate clients. I have really enjoyed the post production side of things the more I get into it, and very thankful for that and that I’m still enjoying the upsides of a remote work lifestyle. One of those things has been setting up remote servers and shared storage for our team. I have quite enjoyed getting that set up and the benefits it brings.

Funsies

I’ve still been reading science fiction as my go to genre of fun reading.

Getting this blog updated (like this now page and its first entry here!) and set up on a new platform (Blot) has been another recent pursuit. It’s been a long term goal to publish my thinking more regularly and I think I’m beginning to internalize the concept of the long game and just writing about my curiosities rather than trying to research something new and present it entirely.

Media

Here’s what I’ve recently listened to, watched, and read.
